MTB Marathon Złoty Stok '13 by Visentin

The internal rivalry in "Daleko Jeszcze ?" had never been so intense than during last winter, and there was no less than four or five candidates for the title of "favorite" for the 2013 season. Running, swimming, rowing, spinning, and sometimes even a real biking were actively used to remotely challenge us via Endomondo accounts. Postponed MTB marathon dates, due to a persistent late winter led to Złoty Stok being scheduled on a Sunday, which allowed me to participate, to my great joy, partly because it is a great place not yet tried during a race, and also not very technical, which suits me....

New Mexico by d_shorb

One of the nice things about exploring on a bike is that you can cover such long distances in a short period of time. When having to hike-a-bike, and even do it a lot, it is still faster and better for terrain that would just be long, boring hiking. Certain areas aren't good for this backcountry riding due to steep, rocky, or jagged mountains, but New Mexico has tons of terrain that is mountainous and rideable. It also has vast areas that are extremely dry, and would constitute distances much too large to cover safely were it not for rancher's cattle wells. Additionally, New Mexico has a climate that allows riders to ride year round...

Cross-Duathlon Żyrowik by Visentin

I heard about "Cross-Duathlon Żyrowik " a year ago while chatting at the end of Terratlon. Some guy told me about it and google helped me for the rest. MTB and running, what could be better? Another motivation when fellow Julen from Spain told if I would go he would too. The event's date was a bit close to Beskidy Trophy but oh well. We both registered under the team "Daleko Jeszcze ?" ("still far ?") "Cross-Duathlon Żyrowik" is a very local event which consists in a 3km trail-run, 10km MTB, 3km run and 10km MTB again, and again at the end 3km

Kona Demo Rolled Through Ashland Oregon by dirtrider410

Kona rolled through Ashland yesterday with a few bikes from their 2013 fleet and we hosted a mini demo night ride. All the bikes were spoken for so I had to ride my own. Which I had figured was going to happen...

When tourism did not exist yet! When tourism did not exist yet! by chaberton

These images of the forties tell an Italy that no longer exists. A time when, being able to go to school and study was already considered a great luxury. Of a time when men, women and children indiscriminately, tearing the earth and the sea, the little that needed simply to survive. When the world was far away and the news reached the island only thanks to the "Postal" which, weather permitting, we carried the letters sent by relatives emigrated. Those seeking employment and fortune in distant countries, with only the dream of returning one day to his native land to live and get married. This Italy no longer exists, only the beautiful pictures in black and white of seventy years ago remind us how we were and how beautiful it was our country. Many, many things have changed for the better, the welfare of the island today is notable but the reverse of the card is bitter....

Pain, Aches and Shortness of Breath..? One (possible) SOLUTION ! Pain, Aches and Shortness of Breath..? One (possible) SOLUTION ! by chaberton

The thermal pool situated a few yards from the harbour in the Island of Vulcano is continually fed by innumerable springs, from wich are emitted sulphuros vapours; very hot salty water and clay mud with a high content of sulphur. These are the three fundamental components of the bath and from their composition it is clear that the development of any pathogens is pratically impossible. The latest indications on thermal tretments state that all the sites have their own specialist treatments, to avoid the errors made in the past when some were said to provide miracolous cures for many diseases. The thermal spring of Vulcano can without a doubt be useful for three major groups of pathologies.

Once upon a time the Mont Cenis. Once upon a time the Mont Cenis. by chaberton

The pass of Mont Cenis is used by thousands of years to cross the Alps It has always been considered a gateway to the Italian peninsula. Any person who, after crossing the impressive mountains in the French Savoie, wanted to reach the fertile Po valley, would be passed to the Col du Mont Cenis. Objects have fallen to the wanderers to the hill during this crossing of the Alps, which occasionally are found fortuitously, representing almost one clock time, and the time has stopped at the Mont Cenis.

Make your own Bender Fender mud guard Make your own Bender Fender mud guard by Visentin

One of my friends recently bought a brilliant mudguard. It is as simple as can be, made of a bent plastic folio, and attached to the fork just over the front wheel. It is discrete and can be removed at any time. No mention about the negligible weight. So, kind of jealous not to have the same (I have a rear one but in some occasions a front one is cruelly missing), I asked him about the brand in the evening, and found it costs approximately 10E in bike shops. Which isn't a lot, but I thought why the hell giving so much money for something so simple...
