OverviewThe Northeast Kingdom of Vermont encompasses some of the most remote, sparsely populated and wild lands in the state. The Kingdom Trails Association has developed an extensive network of trails in and around East Burke and Lyndonville over the past decade.
The trails range from mellow XC trails to hardcore downhills and everything in between. Darling Hill is the backbone on the trail system and trails can be divided into those that lie on the east side of the hill and those that lie on the west side.
I am just getting to know this area, so I hope people will post info on individual trails. Some notable ones to try out are Sidewinder (a natural halfpipe), Coronary Bypass, Tap N' Die and Old Web's.Getting ThereThe Kingdom Trails Welcome Center is located on Route 114 in the village of East Burke, Vermont.
To get there from the east, west or south (Burlington, Boston, New Hampshire), take exit 23 off of I-91. Go north on US 5 then bear right onto Route 114 until you reach East Burke.
From the north (Montreal and Quebec)get off at exit 24. Take a left on Route 122. Go 2 miles and connect with Route 114. Follow 114 to East Burke.
The Welcome Center is behind Bailey's and Burke General Store on the east side of 114. Parking is behind the pub. Hours are 8:00 - 5:00 seven days a week during the season. Call to check on trail conditions before driving there. 802 626-0737Red TapeCurrently (2007) there is a $10 per day trail fee or a $35 "Green Season" membership required to ride the trails.
For $100 you can also have access to the trails in winter when they are groomed for nordic skiing.
There are specific regulations for the Freeride and Downhill trails. Please see the KTA website for details. External LinksKingdom Trails Association
