OverviewUNDER CONSTRUCTION
The University of California at Santa Cruz is the best college in the state for mountain biking. Surrounded by miles and miles of trails, the university offers something for everybody. Downhillers, cross country riders, and tricksters all flock to this area. Getting ThereThe area is bounded on the east by highway 9, the south by the the UC campus, and to the west by Wilder Ranch Park. From Santa Cruz, you may head up highway 9 towards Felton for 1-3 miles for access to the trails. You may also start from the UC campus. From downtown Santa Cruz, take High Street and it will turn into Empire Grade Road. Make any of the left turns that lead into the campus after you've gone up the hill.
Red TapeMany of the trails are "closed", yet well traveled nonetheless. It is possible that some are patrolled, but the truth is that these "closed" trails are so well known and ridden, that the university police don't even care.
