OverviewUnder Construction
Moab, Utah is one the meccas of mountain biking (and many other high adrenaline activities) in the United States. Situated in the southeastern Utah desert, along the banks of the Colorado river, Moab is close to hundreds of miles of amazing mountain biking.
Moab Highlights:
Slickrock Bike Trail - The world famous, epic, amazing Slickrock bike trail is located a short drive or ride from downtown Moab. The trail climbs and descends over exposed sandstone dunes. The name 'slickrock' came from the days of horses sliding on the rock in their metal shoes... mountain bike tires have an amazing ability to stick to some improbably steep climbs!
Poison Spider Mesa Trail - The Poison Spider Mesa Trail is one of Moab's classics! It's not for faint of heart though, with technical sand, slickrock, and a very nasty, exposed, and technical descent off the Portal Trail. This descent has claimed the lives of at 3 mountain bikers, so use caution!
Porcupine Rim Trail
LaSal Mountains - An oasis in the desert! High alpine peaks that rise to over 12,000 feet, just east of Moab. Amazing summer and fall riding away from the heat of the desert.
24 Hours Of Moab - The country's premiere 24 hour mountain bike race! Over 5000 racers descend on Moab in mid-October for this classic event.
Getting ThereFrom Colorado (Denver):
Take I-70 west to Utah. Continue to Exit 182 (Crescent Junction - no services) and Hwy 191. Take Hwy 191 South towards Moab for 32 miles. Hwy 191 becomes Main street.
From Salt Lake City, UT:
Take I-15 south out of the Salt Lake valley. Follow I-15 to Exit 258 (US Hwy 6/US Hwy 89) toward Manti/Price. Merge onto US 6 and follow US 6 for 127 miles to I-70. Take I-70 east, through Green River to Exit 182. Take Exit 182 (Crescent Junction - no services) and go south on Hwy 191 for 32 miles to Moab. Hwy 191 becomes Main street.
