Overview A footbridge along the Beacham Trail. According to those familiar with mountain biking in Arkansas, Lake Leatherwood is one of the best the state has to offer. Located in the beautiful Ozark Mountains of northwest Arkansas near the town of Eureka Springs, the setting for this mountain biking area is spectacular.
The 15 miles of biking here ranges from easy to semi-technical with almost 500 ft. of vertical elevation gain with many leg-burning hill climbs to chose from. For those who don't want the long hill climbs, the trails immediately around Lake Leatherwood keep the hill climbing to a minimum, although keeping the interest up with short rocky up and down sections. Almost all of the trails are heavily wooded and scenic. Signs and tree markers make navigation very easy on the official trails.
For a trail map, see the "Trail Map" section of this page.
Getting There The entrance to Lake Leatherwood Park.
Lake Leatherwood is located about 32 miles west of Bentonville, Arkansas on State Highway 62 near the town of Eureka Springs. From Eureka Springs, drive approximately 1.5 miles from the Main Street/Highway 62 intersection and turn right. They are currently building a new bridge over West Leatherwood Creek so the exact location of the entrance will probably change by a few hundred feet once the bridge is opened.
