Overview Dalmatia is southernmost province of Croatia, very well known in tourist areas, besides cultural monuments and folklore, for unspoilt crystal sea perfectly arranged with limestone rock, with another different world in its hinterland. Capital of Dalmatia region is Split, the second largest city in Croatia, with the population of about 200 thousand, with its neighborhood almost double that number.
Central Dalmatia can be considered the same as county of Split and Dalmatia, a beautiful, rocky region, where the mountains are meeting the sea, making it full of MTB possibilities. Embracing most of Dalmatian islands, major mountains Mosor, Kozjak, Biokovo, Svilaja and Kamesnica and unnumbered hills and smaller mountains, area is perfect for all types of cycling, from road tours to extreme downhill.ClimateMediterranean climate is characterized by hot, dry summers and cool, wet winters, so you have to find a balance between. Turns between summer and winter and vice-versa are very short, sometimes happen just over the night. Snow is a real rarity on the coast, but it's not so often even in the hinterland, except on the mountain, where we have of course mountain climate. Still, most of trails are below that zone.Getting ThereCar, bus, plane, train, ferry, whatever, it's easy to get here. Of course, car is most comfortable for reaching distant trails. Accommodation can be found on every corner, too.Red TapeNo limitations of any kind so far. You can enter all national parks, ride all single tracks, hiking paths...if you want to :)
