Asiago Tableland

The Altopiano dei Sette Comuni (Seven cities highland, aka Asiago tableland) is a big range of sweet meadows and woods that borders, to the South, the Valsugana (Brenta river valley).
Its N border is made by a long ridge that to the N has high rocky and very wild walls (1500m high), to the S slope down gently, at the beginning with wild stony walleys and ribs, then with a big band of meadows and, after the main road (from Vezzena to Asiago) ends to the S with big wooded ribs.
The high parts of these slopes are crossed by a big net of military (1st WWW) unpaved roads) Kaiser Karl Strasse perfect for Mountain Bike and for cultural/panoramic hikes, some of this roads are open to private trafic so that you can save many hours walking to approach the summital ridge.
The main accesses (by the car) to the high plains are:
Malga Larici (12 km from Passo Vezzena + 6 km from the road Vezzena-Asiago) - for Cima Portule range
Malga Galmarara (from Camporovere toward Trento for 4 km then on the right for 7 km) - Cima Dodici range
Piazzale Lozze (15 km from Gallio) - for the Ortigara range

Trail Description
Starting from Vezzena pass 1402 m. follow the signs for Forte Verle and Pizzo di Levico 1908m..Through woods and pastures of the plateau Vezzena to Porta Manazzo 1795 m, down to the sign for the Cima Portule, hence, the Larici alm 1658 m..Here the road crosses the woods until Bocchetta Portule 1937m.
The green landscape is gradually replaced by that of karst: arid and rocky but with a charm.
From the military road Kaiser Karl Strasse the view is on (in sequence) Cima Portule 2308m., Monte Trentin 2310m., Cima Undici 2228m., Cima Ddodici 2336m.and ending with Cima Ortigara 2106m.
Descending is from Bivio Italia 1987m. along the Val d'Assa down to Bocchetta Portule

Getting There
BY RAIL & CAR
You can reach Trentino from the north and south either by rail Verona-Brenner-Munich or on the A22 Brenner motorway.
Local transport includes bus services run by the Trentino Trasporti and two minor railways, the Trento-Venice through Valsugana
