OverviewThe Boxer trail is a short 3.8 mile trail that parallels the Schuylkill river path in Philadelphia's Fairmount Park. It gets its name from the boxer Joe Frazier who would frequent the trail. The trail contours a hillside and offers unique views of the paved path and river below.
Trail DescriptionThe out-and-back trail offers steep, rolling hills on a gravel reinforced tread through a densely wooded section of Fairmount Park. Although it may not be long enough to warrant a trip of its own it is a great link-up when combined with other trails nearby.
Getting ThereFrom the Art Museum area of Philadelphia bike approximately 4 miles north on the Schuylkill River Path toward Valley Forge to Fountain Green Drive. Follow Fountain Green Dr. north under the railroad bridge for 50 meters. The Boxers' Trail begins on the left.
