Trail DescriptionFrom the parking lot cross over the jeep trail heading south for a short climb as the trail heads east through pinyon & juniper coming out to a large slick rock area that you may see a rogue jeep atempting to climb up some of the large sandstone steps. After you come to second smaller slickrock area you will descend down to the Devil's Dining Room a small deep sinkhole enclosed by barbed wire, a 1\2 mile in. Continuing on the singletrack you will come to a junction. Stay right to go to Chicken Point or go left to Submarine Rock.
Staying left it is a short descent down crossing the jeep trail and into a wash at the base of the Submarine where the trail stays to the left of the rock at base. As the trail curves around to the backside there are some options to climb up onto the slick rock of Submarine. Once on top there are great views and good fun playing around on some great short but steep roll ins. To continue on you can return the way you came or follow the jeep road out and stay left to after it comes out of the wash to go to Chicken Point.
Staying right the trail continues traversing through technical ups and downs and with some good slick rock sections to play in. The trail through the slick rock areas are marked by carins (Wire baskets filled with rocks). Some of the climbs through this portion are quite challenging and I am sure many people walk their bikes through here. Soon Chicken Point comes into view and a short chunky descent brings your onto the slick rock of Chicken Point. There is a good chance there will be up to five Pink Jeeps here telling there load of tourists why the rocks are red (iron oxide...rust). The name Chicken Point came from the Jeeps as this is the point where they "chicken out". From here you can return the way you came or descend the Little Horse trail for a loop option (Recomennded). Little Horse is to the left of Chicken Point marked by Carins.
