Slick Roots, Fresh Tracks, & Great Scenery

Somewhat difficult during the wet or dry season, this good mtn biking trail became a lot tougher with snow. Though the snow was not too deep in the trees, the roots were deadly slick and regularly knocked me out of control by kicking my tires out to the side or wrecking the bike into the ground all together.

I even ventured off a bit and took an open part of the trail that wound down some untracked portion of trail that I had never been down. This short detour took me to the banks of the Mendenhall River. There I found the wrecked and buried remnants of automobiles and other heavy machinery in the side of the riverbed. Interesting to say the least.

Interesting ? here. I normally ride the hardtail but my chain broke again and so I changed over to the studded ice tires and will go fully suspended for as long as it takes. Our local bike shop shut down last weekend so I will have to order parts for a while til someone else comes to town.

Nice pics. Careful not to cross ice unless it's a foot thick.

Dang, when is it going to stop raining and blowing 50mph here in UK. We need boats! I just crawled out in the headwind, then zoomed back like I had a V8.

I really feel for you, Ray and Andy, and all the good people in the Lake District and the rest of the UK! Sure hope those bridges are replaced soon and the houses return to working condition.

Thanks for the kind thoughts. It's okay in SW, but Lake District real bad, another 4" rain on the way. Months before they can get new bridges. Need the army up there.
