OverviewIn the southeast corner of Wyoming between Cheyenne and Laramie lies an impressive network of singletrack. Further west of Laramie are the Snowy Mountains with outstanding high country rides on remote and uncrowded singletrack and fireroads. The riding is fantastic as new trails are being built and the homegrown scene includes one of the areas finest endurance races, the Laramie Enduro.
The area between Cheyenne and Laramie has a deceptive elevation of around 8000 ft. and the Snowies to the west rise up to 12000 ft on Medicine Bow Peak. Rocky outcroppings dot the entire landscape and the best mountain biking trails incorporate these rocks as features in the trail. The jewel of the area is Vedauwoo (though not necessarily for mountain biking,) a unique concentration of these rocky outcroppings that is a hugely popular rock climbing destination, with over 900 climbing routes. As Cheyenne and Laramie are located on Interstate 80, these trails can also serve as a great break for travellers looking to stretch their legs and breathe some fresh air.
Getting ThereCheyenne and Laramie are located in the southeast corner of Wyoming, just north of the Colorado border. Both are located along Interstate 80 travelling east-west, and the area is approximately 50 miles north of Fort Collins, CO. The Snowy Mountain range can be accessed via Hwy 130 west out of Laramie.
FeesMuch of the riding available is within the Medicine Bow National Forest and within the Wyoming State Park system. Many areas require an admittance fee. Check with the appropriate area and remit as necessary.
External LinksThe Laramie Enduro is a 111km endurance race on singletrack and fire roads outside of Laramie. It's an awesome homegrown event that keeps growing and getting better.
