Overview
Diamond Valley Lake is located in Southern California njust south of the town of Hemet. The lake, a resovoir filled in the 1990's, is a backup water supply source in the case of extreme drought.Much of the lake's water comes from the Colorado River. An aquaduct exists which sends the water from the river through the Mojave and Soroan deserts into this lake along with Lake Skinner farther down the road.
The lake is southern California's largest freshwater lake and hosts many species of fish introduced here immediently after the lake was filled.
A 21.8 mile unpaved biking trail rings around the lake fully. This look offers an upclose view of the lake about 20 feet below the track. Surprisingly, the entire loop has been done in only about 1 1/2 hour.
