Overview

Much of the lake's water comes from the Colorado River. An aquaduct exists which sends the water from the river through the Mojave and Soroan deserts into this lake along with Lake Skinner farther down the road.
The lake is southern California's largest freshwater lake and hosts many species of fish introduced here immediently after the lake was filled.
A 21.8 mile unpaved biking trail rings around the lake fully. This look offers an upclose view of the lake about 20 feet below the track. Surprisingly, the entire loop has been done in only about 1 1/2 hour.
Getting There
The main, unpaved biking trail in Diamond Valley.
From downtown Riverside, take I-215 south to Newport Rd. just past Perris. Turn left at the exit as the road becomes the Domenigoni Pkwy. Continue to the signed entrance for Diamond Valley and head right past the Water District's visitor center and to the lake.
From the Temecula area, take I-15 to the I-215 north to Newport Rd. Continue east as before to the lake.
Fees
A $7/day fee is charged at the lake. This is for day-use only. No permits, ect. whatsoever are required for biking.External Links
