Dropdown Help: Voting

Voting Basics

Your votes influence the Score of the page. You can vote once on each page. You can change your vote at any time.

Meaning of Your Vote

The following is a rough guide to the meaning of the vote values:

1The Worst. Ever.
2Horrible
3Pretty Bad
4Below Average
5Average
6Above Average
7Pretty Good
8Excellent
9Wow! Amazing
10The Best. Ever.

Be sure to keep in mind the intention of the page/image when voting.

Apparent Anomalies Explained

You might notice that sometimes your vote will not change the displayed score. There are a few possible reasons for this:
  1. You don't yet have enough power to make a difference. Rest assured, as you submit more quality stuff, your power will increase and your votes will have more weight retroactively.
  2. Lots of high-powered members have already voted, thus decreasing the influence of your vote.
  3. Abnormally high and abnormally low votes are automatically discounted as outliers. So, if you voted a lot higher or lower than the consensus, your vote might not seem to register. This does not mean your low or high vote is pointless. If more people vote similarly, your vote will stop being an outlier and start counting.

A Word of Caution

Beware of committing acts of vengeful downvoting or vote padding. If you accumulate too many outliers, your voting power may be automatically decreased by the system. Vote honestly, and you'll have nothing to worry about.
