Overview
This is a long trail for those that are out looking for a good adventure. It links up five different trails with river fording, singletrack and doubletrack. This ride will take you far into the back country so be prepared.Trail Description
The trail starts off crossing the suspension bridge and heading for 5k up Big Elbow trail. At the 5k mark look for Threepoint Mountain Trail on your left, it can be a bit hard to find. Then ford the Big Elbow River.
Look for the trail on the other side and start to pedal and push up on to a ridge on Forgetmenot Mountain.
Enjoy the awesome view up at the top.
Now the fun part as you head off on some sweet singletrack. The trail can be chewed up from horses and cattle so be prepared for a bit of a bumpy ride is spots.
At 14.4k turn right on Volcano Creek Trail. At 19k turn on to Volcano ridge trail. Most of this trail is double tack at this point.
At some point you will come up a hill and there will be a T junction stay right. We made the mistake of thinking the trail went to the right and ended up bush whacking for about an hour before heading back. The trail will follow Threepoint canyon on your right. Just keep an eye out for the black rocks of the canyon.
At 30k head north on Wild horse trail. Oddly, we actually saw a group of wild horses. This is a fun singletrack that goes up and down for 11k and has a fast downhill at the end. At the end of the downhill turn left on to Elbow valley trail, ford the Elbow river again, cross over the bridge and back to the cars.
To do the loop you are looking anywhere from 4-6 hours provided you don't get lost. There are allot of old logging/exploration trails to get lost on thinking you are going the right way. But getting lost is all part of the fun. The loop is outlined in orange.
