Looking for Something?

Hello, my name is Joe......(long dramatic pause)......and I'm a gear junkie.

I don't know about you, but I always seem to be looking for something when it comes to mountain biking gear. What makes it even worse is that I'm usually broke as a joke! I would certainly prefer to support local businesses and spend my money where I'm riding, but reality sometimes sets in and forces me to get on the internet and look for the cheapest deal. As I progress in my career and start making a little more $$, I will deal exclusively with local businesses, but until then...thank God for internet bargains!

This article is being written in hopes that it can help out others who have been in my shoes (smelly, old Air Jordans from the early 90's...with a hole in the left toe). Everyone wants to, and sometimes needs to get a good deal on bike gear and equipement. Use this list below as a starting point when looking for good deals - I've had success with many of these websites!

The Links

Wholesale Sites

BlueSkyCycling.com
This is my favorite site...it offers EVERYTHING that you might be looking for including parts, accessories, and clothing...with prices up to 70% off of an excellent selection.

Some benefits to this site are:
1. Lowest Price guarantee - They'll match any advertised price or your item is free.
2. 40 day Price Guarantee - If in case you see a lower price They'll match it up to 40 Days after your purchase.
3. Outstanding Customer Service - They're committed to making your experience with them an enjoyable one by providing fast, friendly service.
4. No sales tax - On all orders shipped outside of CA.

To know:
The sales and savings can change daily...I waited to long to buy my HR monitor cycle computer and it went from $79 up to $125-ish.

PricePoint.com
Price Point is a global bicycle mail-order company, specializing in cycling frames, parts, clothing, and accessories at unbeatable prices. They have been in business for more than eleven years and in that time, they have become the top cycling Mail Order Company. They have a huge stock and vast selection that are unequaled by many competitors and most retail stores.

Nashbar.com
This site offers some amazing deals on some items. I've noticed that their best selection is with clothing, shoes, etc. They seem to have a limited selection of high end parts and accessories. There are deals up to 60% off on this site.

Sierra Trading Post
Hit and miss, you can sometimes find great deals at Sierra Trading Post. I've also found that for cycling gear, they often carry off brands. But its still worth a look! They do usually carry a pretty decent selection of shoes.

BackCountry.com a good site with great deals and excellent customer service. At first glance, you wouldn't think the site has cycling gear, but just do a search for whatever you're looking for and it'll show you what they have.

This site is also the sponsor site to SteepandCheap.com where you can find "one killer gear deal, one item at a time until its sold out". Be warned though, its very addictive and may cost you a lot of money!

Speedgoat.com a great site with a huge...HUGE selection of items. Almost any name brand, and almost anything you can think of. Prices are roughly at MSRP, but be sure to check out the CLOSOUTS link...there can definitely be some good deals found here!

Performancebike.com is a great site that is very easy to navigate and is known for its customer service and 100% Satisfaction Guarantee on all products sold. On the left of the screen is a navigation bar that breaks down their available items by component, brand, and specialty items. They also offer a great "How to Guide" that helps you on different things from choosing the right gloves for you to instructions on tuning your suspension fork. Check the sites main page for advertisements on close out and clearance items!

www.SteepandCheap.com

A revolving item at great prices that changes when the item sells out. Be warned though, its very addictive and may cost you a lot of money.

SACs sponsor site. Great deals, although not as good as SAC. Excellent customer service, though. I'll also recommend
www.performancebike.com

Backcountry.com split their bike website, it's now Hucknroll.com

Another I've been looking at is universalcycles.com I haven't ordered anything from this site yet to comment on their service, it does look like they have a decent selection of gear there.
