Looking across the Rocky Mountain Trench from the Apache Trail [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Looking across the Rocky Mountain Trench from the Apache Trail
I took this picture from the Apache Trail which lies just outside the Kimberley Nature Park. At Kimberley, the Rocky Mountain Trench is at its widest at 28 km. The Kootenay and Columbia Rivers flow through this trench which divides the Purcell and Rocky Mountain ranges. Fisher Peak is the prominent peak on the left.

To make these distant mountains show up better in the picture, I had to ratchet up the contrast which made the yellow trees seem a bit on the orange side!
