Overview
Mingus Mountain, you probably have never heard of it, only in Cosmic Ray's Sedona Guide book. From the top of Mingus you look out over the Verde Valley where Sedona, Cottonwood, Clarkdale, Cornville, Camp Verde, Rim Rock, McGuirerville and Jerome lay close to 4000ft below. Most of the single track trails on Mingus are extremely technical which for myself :) and my friends we love it. Once on top of the Mountain there are many options to descend single track, dirt roads and smooth winding pavement for Road Bikers. It is a easy Shuttle to the top, which is a beautiful drive up into the mountain.Getting There
Mingus Mountain is about 30 miles southwest of Sedona. From the Verde Valley side wherever you are Sedona, Cottonwood, etc. take Highway 89a south towards Prescott. You will climb up the Mountain starting from Clarkdale 4 miles later you will pass through Jerome, Check it out Jerome is a great place to explore. 11 miles up the mountain you will come to a Turn off for the Mingus Recreation Area take the left at this high point on the road 7023 ft(marked). Continue following the signs up this well maintained dirt road FR104 to the Mingus Recreation Area about 4 miles from this point most of the rides start from within 1 mileView Larger Map
Red Tape
