Momorency falls-Quebec city
Oupps ! I forgot to mention this noteworthy attraction along the bike path on the north shore of the river in immediate vicinity to historic Quebec city. We have to admit that the city with a lengthy history and relatively well preserved historical heritage which is Quebec becomes a fine place to visit once you include such noteworthy sites !

That sure is a powerful sight. Though I wouldn't like to be among the many on the suspension bridge. I'm always wary of overload on engineered structures.

The pergola on the left is the place to be. Very, Zen.

Actually at 83 meters (a little under 300 feet), the falls are higher than Niagara. We'll have to admit that at about 5 miles from the city center it's an attraction that isn't far off the mainstream. Although as you implied most folks aren't very daring once it comes down to further discovering such scenic attractions near a city with countless historic treasures to uncover. But then you dwelt on a precise topic with your comments , such comments dwelling on the number of people on the small suspension bridge. Mind you, just further up the river what the locals call the "Canyon" of the St Anne river is deemed as an additional treat once siteseeing in the vicinity of Quebec city, such a "canyon" (I would say a "gorge" ) having, if I'm not mistaken, another bridge of such type ...

Actually I figured that the Laurentians should be awash with such sites which are just waiting to be discovered ! It's just a sudden drop in the landscape somewhere on an insignificant stream ! (maybe I'm a liitleover optimistic... A quick check of the topo maps is of some encouragement , though) . One such site is along the "Bras du nord" river in the vicinity of the town of St Raymond which is really close to Quebec city...

Click on the following link...

A closer check with the officials gives further precisions about the stream with a waterfall with unsuspected photographic appeal !...
