OverviewCentennial Cone is Jefferson County's newest open space trail system. It features alternating weekend usage for hikers/bikers, so be sure to check the website to ensure bikes are allowed if you're heading out on a weekend.
With splendid views overlooking Clear Creek Canyon, this trail provides a great combination of fun trail and splendid views.Trail DescriptionThe trail is a mix of double track and single track with a series of fun descents followed by gradual, grinding uphills. Several parking areas are available, but most ride this as a loop. For the most part, the trail is buff singletrack that is fast and flowing.
A few sections of rocky, technical terrain will keep you on your toes as well several tight switchbacks which require some concentration. Also, some areas have exposure, so be sure you're familiar with the trail before turning it loose.Getting ThereFrom Jefferson County's Website:
North Access -- Horse Trailers permitted. Take Colorado Hwy. 93 north from Golden approximately one mile to Golden Gate Canyon Rd. Travel west about 8 miles to Robinson Hill Rd. Travel west about eight miles to Robinson Hill Rd. Turn left and continue to Camino Perdido, the north access road into the park. The trailhead is approximately one mile to the south.
West Access -- No horse trailers allowed. From West U.S. Hwy. 6 and State Hwy. 93 west of Golden, travel west on Hwy. 6 about 11 miles. Turn right at Hwy. 119, and travel about 1/2 mile. Turn right onto Douglas Mountain Road and travel about one mile to Centennial Cone Road. Turn right and travel and go about a mile to Centennial Cone Rd., the west entry to the parkWhen to BikeSpring, Summer and Fall.
