Overview

The South Boulder Creek Trail, from the Bobolink trailhead at Cherryvale and Baseline, to the trailhead on the Old Marshall Rd makes a great first-timer mountain bike ride. The mostly dirt doubletrack trail is flat and non-technical. Perfect for a first-time mountain biker, a family ride, recovery ride, or interval workout.

Trail Description

From the Bobolink trailhead:

Head south on the paved South Boulder Creek Path for 0.5 miles and take a right onto the dirt path that heads south. Continuing on the paved path will take you to the South Boulder Rec Center (water, restrooms). Follow the South Boulder Creek Path as it winds around the western edge of a field, along South Boulder Creek. You'll cross an irrigation pipe at 1.0 mile, a wooden bridge at 1.1 miles, and cross under South Boulder Road at mile 1.25. On the south side of the road, turn west and parallel the road to mile 1.5. Here, you'll cross a concrete bridge over South Boulder Creek. Take a left, through the gate, immediately past the bridge.

From here, head south again, following the west side of South Boulder Creek. At mile 1.9, you'll cross a gate and pass under US Hwy 36. Continue on the trail as it follows South Boulder Creek. You'll pass a large Cottonwood tree at mile 2.5 and the trail will curve right (west), away from the creek. Following the trail as it winds across the field, you'll come to a long wooden boardwalk at mile 2.9. The trail turns right here and heads west. You'll come to the end of the trail at the Old Marshall Road, at mile 3.35. Turn around and retrace your path back to the Bobolink trailhead.
