OverviewDead Horse Ranch State Park is just 30 min. west of Sedona and has a small Network of Trails that interconnect. Best known for the Thumper Loop a combonation of the Raptor Hill, Thumper and Lime Kiln Trails. Every type of rider will find something here. Camping is on site within the park, fishing at a number of the Lagoons and the Verde River. Deadhorse is a great place to be based out of for Riding Mingus Mountain and Sedona when one wants to stay away from hotels and resorts or camping in Sedona is all taken. Most of the trails have great views of the Verde Valley. Deadhorse is rideable year round but can be blazing hot mid day in the summer months.
Getting ThereFrom the South (Phoenix)
Head North on I-17 to Exit 287 make a left onto Hwy 260 heading into Cottonwood to Main St.\Hwy 89a take a left. One stoplight and 2 miles later you will see a signed right for Dead Horse Ranch State Park.
From the North (Flagstaff)
Head South on I-17 for 3 mi exit onto 89a south through Sedona towards cottonwood 40 miles. Make a right at Mingus 3 miles later make a right onto Main St. after a mile you will see a signed right for Dead Horse Ranch State Park.
