Overview

Philadelphia's famed Fairmount park system is comprised of 63 parks that make up 9,200 acres of green space within city limits. Much of this park land was set aside for preservation in the early 20th century leaving a unique collection of wild and natural space easily accessed by the urban mountain biker.

Getting There

Thanks to SEPTA, (Philadelphia's public transit system) all of the areas within city limits are easily accessed by bus. They have bike racks mounted year round. The Wissahickon and Pennypack can easily be accessed from Center City but taking the regional rails. Bikes area allowed on Non-peak hour trains but unfortunately "peak hours" make up a pretty significant portion of the day.
