Of local interest ... a proposed (and approved) subdivision development in the Boise Foothills has been halted with a purchase from the Foothills levy fund. The development at Hammer Flats was a flashpoint of conflict between conservationists and foothills trail users on one side and development on the other. The site sits in critical elk and deer habitat and directly above the Black Cliffs, a popular rock-climbing destination northeast of Boise.

On a personal note, I thought the development was a done deal and this land would be lost forever. This gives me hope for my community.
