Actually, the extra 1.5 inches in wheel diameter is not realized at the BB height. To keep COG lower, 29er frame geos are designed to be comparable to 26" frames in BB height. Combine that with a longer WB on the large to XXL frames and it may actually not clear logs as well.

Ray, many guys use 26" tubes on their 29ers. They actually do stretch and are cheaper to buy than 29er tubes. I don't subscribe to this and pay a couple more $ per tube. I guess I don't want to risk any problems although they say there's no issue. The increased giro effect is so small as to not be noticeable. What I do notice is the increased overall size of the vehicle I'm on when negotiating tight turns and swtichbacks.
