Trail running shoes ?

Postby Visentin » Sun Apr 15, 2012 9:57 pm

OK, most of us are mountain bikers but I have the feeling that few of us in the sect are also wasting their time in running.
So far I ran with a pair of old Adidas Supernova, not intensively used, but each time I go to a shoes shop I wonder why I'm still running with wooden shoes. And it seems that I'm slightly an overpronator, which would require preferably a corresponding sole.
I ran mostly on asphalt so far but I realized recently I prefer to run on the soil, and I found the few attempts of trail-running funnier than the flat commute route from work.
And if everything goes fine I'll run the trail-athlon in August "terratlon.pl".
And last but not least, soon is my birthday :)
So I went to shops to see...
Asics Trabucco ? Enduro ?
Adidas Kanadia ?
Salomon XA PRO 3D ?
Anyone has experience on some of these ?

I have had the Solomon XA pro models and found them to be a great shoe. Everybody seems to have thier own preference. I now am running mostly in the Inov-8 Roclites. They have a super knobby tread and a bit of a heel which I like on the downhills. I'm just healing up from an MCL injury (skiing) and can't wait to get back out running/riding on the trails.
Those Asics you bought look pretty good, hope they work out well for you!

Of course now the big trend seems to be barefoot running or minimalist shoes. I haven't gone there yet but am always talking to people that are running in the Vibram 5 finger shoe getting their input.

Happy trails

I know this already came up on the thread over at Summitpost, but I'm a devotee of Born To Run. I've come to decide that technique matters much, much more than what shoe you buy. That said, I like Asics, in general. They seem to fit my particular foot best. But I run on old, beatup flat soled shoes, even on trails. I also don't run on much that is very loose or uneven, so I don't need a very agressive sole. Let us know what you think of those!
