Dear MBPosters !
This week's update marks a milestone in the life of this mountain-biking website. So far, and since its birth, there has always been more trails than available place to dedicate to them on the front page. Only the best were selected then.
Some years ago, after a quiet period with lack of updates due to volunteers, and various issues that did not help (several waves of spams, the link on SP that disappeared), attendance decreased and new material became more and more rare.
To revive the site and keep renewing constantly the front page, it was decided to publish trail pages worth publishing and that had never been published. Thanks to few contributors, the pile did not always sharply decrease, but we have now just reached the point where there is nothing more to publish.
Some of the best pages, from the most active of us, were kept for this occasion, let's hope you will enjoy this week's selection...
What to do next ? There are few options available.
The first is to get back to the old system: publish pages as they come. But their periodicity is not regular (added to this winter is coming !), and they tend recently to be from the same few contributors. Readers might get bored.
The second is to re-publish pages that were published long ago, at the beginning. Many of the first pages were excellent, they were posted so long ago that they have felt in oblivion. Unfortunately for most of them the contributors do not log since long ago, and there is not such interesting interaction between authors and readers.
The third is to pick good pages with the lowest scores (unvoted, etc etc) from the bottom of the rankings, and repost them to make them earn few more votes and a bit of visibility.
A fourth: more than ten new pages will come each month, and everything is fine ! Unfortunately it seems that most of the permanent members have posted since long ago all material related to places around where they live, and new active members are too rare (Chaberton is the exception)...
All ideas and suggestions will be welcome !
Thanks
