Overview
Provo Canyon itself primarily features two popular mountain bike venues:1. The paved River Trail which runs from Vivian Park (seven miles up the canyon), past Bridal Veil Falls and the various parks, and continues to the Utah Lake marina at Provo Center Street.
2. The race track, which winds around the bowl to the north of the canyon entrance, and various trails above the race track which belong on the Utah Valley area page.
Other canyon areas include North Fork Canyon (the Alpine Loop) where you can catch the lift at Sundance or ride many excellent trails, South Fork Canyon (above Vivian Park) which has several challenging trails, and Little Deer Creek Canyon (just before the dam on the left) which takes you up to Cascade Springs.
Getting There
A popular access to the canyon River Trail is to park immediately before the canyon entrance on Orem 800 North. Turn in and park just below the gas station. You can also stop at any of the canyon parks and ride from there.Access the racetrack by climbing the dirt road above Canyon View Park (or the adjacent Timpanogos Storytelling Park) or Cascade Road (I think) that climbs steeply from near the corner of Orem 1600 N and 800 E to the Orem PD firing range and the water treatment plant. Climb the dirt road to the top (closed to vehicles except during hunting season) and turn down in a couple spots, the best being about 150' before the deepest-north canyon.
You'll find several accesses to the other trails above that road.
This area is closed to all motorized vehicles.
