This ride aimed to visit a wide part of the Sudetes, with three summits of average size, starting from Szczawno-Zdrój near Wałbrzych.
Trójgarb turned to be extremely difficult by bike. The mountain isn't tall, but sharp from each side. Bike-and-hike is needed wherever we come from during the climb. The descent proved to be very challenging as well.
Krąglak turned to be very anecdotal, just crossing a hilly forest. In which I lost my way however...
Some asphalt, partly along the beautiful Bóbr river, is ridden before reaching the foot of Chełmiec.
The Chełmiec trail marked as "bike suitable" on the Compass map revealed an extremely steep and demanding start, I stepped down in a couple of places. But he most we go ahead, the most gentle is this round-shaped mountain. A huge cross and two antennas on the top. On the opposite side, the yellow-marked trail made the other very-challenging downhill of the day, which took me back to Szczawno-Zdrój, my starting point.
I had never visited this spa, partly because its proximity with gloomy Wałbrzych. But Szczawno-Zdrój is definitely beautiful and worth coming back. 50km, 1400m of total ascent, 5 hours of ride minus a fabulous picnic in the sun in mid October !
