OverviewGemini Bridges is a nice, easy ride for those new to Moab, new to mountain biking, or both. The route is mostly on gravel roads dropping from the rim down broad canyons to the Moab fault valley. The namesake arch is just off the main route and well worth a stop. The road is frequented by ATVs and jeeps so you won't be alone out there.
Getting ThereAs a one-way trip this one requires two cars. Drop one car at the Gemini Bridges TH on US 191 9 miles north of the center of Moab. Drive north 1.8 miles to UT 313 and ascend the long, scenic (paved) road to the rim country. The upper Gemini Bridges TH is on the left after 10.8 miles.
Trail Description Cruising the easy trail above the Bridges
Starting from the upper TH, the road is hard to miss. Cruise downhill on broad jeep road past a couple of oil wells. At 3 miles, bear right following signs for Gemini Bridges. Continue straight until mile 5.5 at which point a short spur trail heads off to the Bridges themselves.
Passing the Gooney Bird in the second half of the ride.
After taking in the view, make your way back to the main road and on the now-curvy road. At mile 9, descend a rocky drop into the upper reaches of a broad canyon. Continue on the obvious trail past several interesting formations. After emerging from the canyon, you're still quite a ways above the road far below. Traverse north along the cliff band on a shelf road. The final mile of spirited descent leaves you at the lower Gemini Bridges TH.Side Trips Gemini Bridges from Bull Canyon. The Gemini Bridges trail system provides the backbone to many other more challenging trails in the area. At mile 8, a right hand turn takes you into some rougher country. Keeping right at all turns will lead into the sandy Bull Canyon and eventually deposit you at the base of Gemini Bridges. Another option is to explore the more challenging Two Turtles loop which rejoins the main route shortly after mile 9. If you're feeling particularly spicy, the Gold Bar Rim trail departs from here as well.
