Overview

Heil Valley Ranch is a lollipop loop with loose, rocky terrain. While the riding at Heil isn't the best in Boulder County, the creation of a new loop and soon to be completed connector to Hall Ranch increase this trails draw.

Trail Description

A steady, gradual climb through a forested area over rocky terrain. The rocky terrain can be quite loose in the summer months with high traffic, but the terrain is non-technical for the most part.

The primary loop can be ridden either direction. Once you hit the loop junction and pick a direction, you will also encounter the newly created Wild Turkey loop, which is the highlight of this trail network.

Getting There

Drive north out of Boulder, CO on Highway 36 until you reach Left Hand Canyon. Take a left turn (heading west) and travel for about 3/4 of a mile until you see the sign indicating Heil Valley Ranch. Travel up the easement road (please drive slowly as its open range) for a 1/2 mile until you reach the parking area.

When to Bike

Can be ridden year round, although it hold snow pack during the winter with the tree coverage.
