Trail Description

Sparrow Hill consists of a main loop approx 27km long
which is achievable by all skill levels. Off this main loop is
a number of more technical outer loops comprising rock
bridges, rock gardens and step-downs offering more than
30km of singletrack in total to the adventurous rider.
These optional detours will bring you back to the main
loop. There are a number of opportunities along the track
to exit the main trail and complete a shorter loop. Tracks
are fast flowing, with numerous options to mix up the
riding experience. Built by the same track builders who
laid down some of the classic MTB trails of Canberra’s Mt
Stromlo and Deek‘s Forest Park, Sparrow Hill has become
one of Australia’s premier riding locations.

Getting There

Sparrow Hill is a part of Kowen Forest on the road to
Bungendore. Head east out of Queanbeyan towards
Bungendore for 11.5 km (measured from the Caltex
roundabout). Look for the gate and parking area on
your right. Please remember to park only on the right
hand side of the road (same side as the gate). Travelling
time from Queanbeyan is approx. 8-10 minutes, or
25-30 minutes from the Canberra City Centre.

When to Bike

Riding is all year round.
