Overview

This 9 mile loop of single track is technically easy and very fast. The trail runs through a city park along the Kansas River in North Lawrence. The trails are popular for both bikers and runners so make sure to abide by posted trail signs (Bikers ride clockwise).

Elevation gain is negligible. Although there are some ups and downs, there are no extended climbs on the trail. Riders of all experience levels are sure to enjoy the beautiful singletrack.

Trail Description

Trail Map

The trail is, for the most part, fast and smooth singletrack. There are a couple small log obstacles on the trail that can be avoided.

The backside of the trails, after the marked connector trail, (particularly past "Mud Creek Drop") can stay muddy for quite some time after rainfall. Use good judgement when conditions might be muddy.

A 5.6 mile loop can be made by use of the connector trail. This portion dries out quicker and can serve as a quick fix to hit the trails.

Getting There

The parking lot is off 8th and Oak St. in North Lawrence.

Going north on Massachusetts street from downtown, take the first right (east) over the bridge onto Elm street. Follow Elm to 8th street. Turn right (south) onto 8th, and cross over the levee. There is a parking lot between the levee and the Kansas River.

By bicycle from downtown, ride east on the levee approximately one mile to reach the parking lot and TH.

When to Bike

Year Round Biking!!

Of course winter brings cold weather and snow, but just use common sense and stay off the trails when they are muddy.
