SummaryThe Tunnel Creek Downhill is located at the northern end of the scenic Marlette Flume Trail on the northeast side of Lake Tahoe. The trail is actually a 4WD road that is gated off from public vehicular use.
Tunnel Creek is most often ridden as a downhill, usually as part of a Flume Trail car shuttle. While some folks do go uphill on this steep road, it is not really recommended due to the steep nature and sometimes loose qualities of the surface. Not to mention the bombing downhill traffic...
The route drops 1500 vertical feet in less than 3 miles, making for some fun high-speed maneuvering. There is a little something for everyone on this short run, ranging from long straights with water bars to rutted semi-techie sections, to wide sandy switchbacks begging to be slid.
The Flume Trail hourly shuttle van shows up at the bottom of the route, ready to take you back to Spooner for a modest $10 fee, or ride a quick mile south on highway 28 to Sand Harbor and its beautiful beaches.
