The 1200 acre Trail of Tears is one of the most popular mountain bike trails on Cape Cod. The trails are located on a parcel of conservation land in Barnstable. The trails are regulated by the Barnstable Land Management Committee and is maintained by the Cape Cod Chapter of NEMBA, as well as the Barnstable Conservation Commission.

Getting There

The Trail of Tears is located immediately off of Exit 5 on the Mid-Cape Highway. Take a right after the exit onto the Service Road. The Parking Area is located about 300 yards down, on the left hand side. Riding
The Trail of Tears consists of about 16 miles of singletrack. The trails are steep and twisty. All together, they are not very technical. Riders should be cautious of Poison Ivy and deer ticks. Dukes Country (Marthas Vineyard) has the highest Lyme Disease infection rate in the country, and Barnstable Country is not far behind.
