OverviewA Shuttle Ride Down the origanal road into Sedona (Single track you'd never imagine it a road....wagons going down it???? lots of regrowth & erosion over the years has hidden most of the impression of a road.)
Trail Description Starting at the top of Schnebly Hill rd. from the view point parking lot ride the rocky basalt portion of Hot Loop FR153a for a short climb of 1.6mi. After a mile or so the second road on the right will lead you to the edge of the rim. Once at the rim ride the small trail along the rim (can be faint) further east until you run into the old road (This can be accessed by staying on the road but why not enjoy the view and stay on single track). The old portion of Munds Wagon Trail is obviously heading at an angle down off the rim. Start heading down this rocky road after a 1/8th of a mile it makes a switch back heading west and becomes single track. Rip down the old cut of Munds Wagon. Don't let it fly too much unless you are following someone familiar to the trail there are a couple tight moves at the end of some long runs. A bigger travel bike is much appreciated on this portion. Once this old cut runs you into Schnebly Hill road, head down and across the road for 100ft or so to pick up the trail again which heads towards Merry-Go-Round rock traversing around the low side paralleling Schnebly Hill Rd. for the rest of the trail. You will cross the road once again be ware of a corner as you approach the road, I have many atime come maching down this portion to blow this corner and skid into the brush no big deal....just dust your self off. After crossing the road keep your eye open as the trail will split stay left going right goes back across the road onto cow pies very cool play ground and another description...so to continue down stay left here. Quickly again you will cross the road encountering a couple tight switch backs and crosssing you onto the right side of the drainage you are now following. At this point the trail gets less technical and follows the drainage on the right you will cross the drainage back to the left hand side below the road and begin climbing back towards the road. You will cross the road again keep your eye open for the trail. From this point you will cross the road once more staying left. You will see the parking lot for the lower trailhead to Munds Wagon Trail as well as the Huckaby & Marg's Draw Trail (wilderness & down the road a couple hundred feet on the left). Once at the parking lot you are done with Munds Wagon Trail load up or continue on with your jouney.Getting ThereFrom The "Y" (Intersection of 89a & 179) in Sedona head south on 179 towards Tlaquepaque crossing the bridge over Oak Creek make a left immediatly after the bridge onto well marked Schnebly Hill Rd. follow Schnebly Hill Rd the entire way to the top of the Colorado Plateau 6.2mi park here at lot or shuttle drop off point. You can also ride the road or trail up....not my preference but hey! Some people like it. I would rather spend my pedaling effort on the remainder of Sedona.

Summer - early mornings are best
Fall
Winter - In the case we get snow it can be a sloppy mess mid day is best
Also check with Forest Service to see if gate at Merry Go Round Rock is closed after heavy rain or snow 928-282-4119 Connecting Trails• Cow Pies…...?
• Huckaby
• Marg’s Draw (Wilderness…no no no)
Car Spot LocationThe car is best left at the base of Schnebly Hill Rd. by Garland's Rugs or at the end of the pavement at the lower trailhead to Mund's & Huckaby if you are just riding Munds. Many people ride Mund's then connect to Huckaby or Damfino off of Cow Pies which you can spot a car at Midgley Bridge or just ride back into town on the highway 89a (All down hill).
