OverviewZiggy is shaped like a backward "C". Each leg of the trail is uphill toward the center of the "C". One side (the northern leg) is generally ridden as a climb with 150 ft of elevation gain. The southern leg is usually ridden as a down hill with a drop of almost 300 vertical feet.
Trail DescriptionZiggy is loads of fun! It is most often ridden in conjunction with the Zag Trail (see separate review) to create a fun loop ride. If you climb Zag, it will end into Ziggy about half way up its northern leg. Hang a right, and climb to the summit of Ziggy before the trail turns downhill.
The downhill section isn't terribly technical, but does feature some high speed turns and sudden drops into a small ravine.
The trail has recently been rerouted on its western (uphill) section. The reroute has cut out a fun stretch of trail, and replaced it with a much less fun section. Getting ThereZiggy begins near the southern end of the Middle Trail (reviewed separately). However, if you start here, you will be climbing the side that is usually ridden as a downhill. If you start at Middle, then look for a quick right turn just after you start Ziggy. This is Zag, and is a safer way to get to the top of Ziggy.
Ziggy's northern leg can be reached via the Poppy Trail. Poppy ends at a 3-way intersection. Left is the Ruin Trail, and right is Ziggy. When to BikeZiggy is almost always rideable. Occassionally, it will be wet just after a rain, but dries quickly. |
