Overview

Granite Ridge is located just East of Issaquah, and about 30 minutes east of Seattle. There are a couple of trails here that go up and over Granite Ridge.

Trail Description

This is one of my favorite trails in the Seattle area. It is easy to get to, and is open year round. It has a good climb to the top of the ridge, then back down the other side with some good twists and turns. There is a lot of water in the winter, so things get a bit muddy, but that seems to make it more fun.

Getting There

From Seattle, just head East on I90 through Issaquah and get off on High Point way (same exit as you would take to hike Tiger Mountain. Turn left and go under the freeway. Just on the other side, you will turn left into a small dirt parking lot. From here, ride your bike over the bridge and down the access road for about a mile. You will be riding next to a creek that runs parallel to I90. Pay attention to the right side of the road. You will see a trail going up the hill to the right with a sign. Stop and take a look at the sign, it will show the trail system up Granite Ridge. You then go up this path that winds up granite ridge for about a mile or two. You will hit Granite Ridge drive - paved road. Go over this to other side where trail continues. After a mile or so on this trail you will see a less traveled trail veer off to the left. If you want take this trail for a bit and be rewarded with a nice view. It is a bit more technical, but not too far, maybe a mile for the view. If you stay to the right just continue until trail ends. This is a very fun trail weaving up and down and around corners. Then head back, enjoy the climb back out!
