Malinowa

Malinowa

Malinowa, "Raspberries hill", is an unsignificant summit of 839m in a low part of the Sudetes that we call "Góry Sowie" ("hills of the owls"), and whose highest point is Wielka Sowa. South from it lies another mountain topped with a view-tower, Kalenica, and still further is located our Malinowa, the smallest of the three.
They form all together a long stripe which ends in Bardo, where the range is interrupted by the river Nysa Klodzka, to continue south again in the Góry Złote, which form the north end of the Jeseniky unit.

Malinowa is reasonably cycleable on all its length, which is not the case for other tops, and the whole traverse from the pass Przełęcz Woliborska to the south end in Serbna Góra, way and back, make a fine short ride. In Serbna Góra are located the ruins of a huge medieval fortress, Fort Rogowy. The trails allows to visit, accessing it from behind, and make an interesting cultural aim for this ride.

Trail Description

Malinowa

Trap on the trail :)

Malinowa is a range oriented North-West to South-East, oscillating between forests made of beech trees and conifers. It is covered by forests until the top so the views are very scarce, here and there in parcels cut by forestry activity.
Despite its flat appearance on the map, the trail is a succession of sharp bumps, manageable by bike, but requiring all energy and concentration on the climbing parts, and then short but entertaining sharp descents.
There are three main bumps, Malinowa being the one in the middle, Szeroka on the north, Gołębia on the south.

The top

We cycle them only if we follow the red main trail on the ridge (officially only a pedestrian trail). The red trail is doubled by 2 blue trails close to the ridge on both slopes, marked for bikes. In many points, like the passes that separate each bumps, the blues and the red are joining. These blue trails are a good alternative for the one who wants to avoid climbing back these tops.

Getting There

pass Przełęcz Woliborska

Natural park

The Malinowa trail is located approximately one hour from Wrocław. Follow the direction of Dzierżoniów, then Bielawa, and aprk in the pass Przełęcz Woliborska.
Serbna Góra can also be the starting point, but the very beginning of the trail, from the road, is very steep, and there are few hundred meters of steep bike-pushing until reaching the fortress.
