Valin Mountain. The hill in question in the "Lac St Jean" region (in Quebec) is immediately north of the metropolitain area of Chicoutimi -Jonquiere which despite its perceived isolation hosts a population estimated at over 1/4 of a million people. The north-eastern fringe of the lake region consists of hills which are deemed as rising dramatically from the vicinity of sea level to approximately 3000 feet. Such hills are well suited to do some trecking on trails. The forestry roads giving access to the immediate area are (as suspected) well suited for mountain bike enthusiasts which shun the asphalt out of foolish pride , such roads which may go into the mountains occasionally giving some good perspectives on the area .

No need to remind you that some of these forestry roads will go deeply into the interiour and thus oblige a certain measure of caution considering the distance and the isolation. It is thus important to be well prepared.
