Page Description.

Updated March 31, 2012. Mountaineering Content and Family Content sections added.

This page is dedicated to video content, mainly mountain biking, though some other outdoor perspectives will be included in the lower sections. The video's shown usually illustrate parts of a route which will help the end user understand the terrain on which they are assigned better.

Also included will be some video content which shows some interesting content, mainly ridge scrambles, summit perspectives/narratives, things of that nature.

Note that the majority of these videos are shot in resolutions up to 1080p and are usually located on YouTube. For those unfamiliar with YouTube, after starting the video you will have the option in the lower right hand portion of the video frame to click on the 360P or 480P icon. By doing this you'll have the option to up the resolution all the way up to 1080P. I've found the best resolution under most circumstances to be 720P, both from a bandwidth/quality perspective.

More video content will be added as it becomes available.

great collection there WV. Love the Rush Trail. Looks a great descent. Good stuff.

Glad to see that you like Porcupine Tree. Heard it on the Ghost Falls vid. How strange cos I was just messing around with music trying to get a grip of movie maker and put down "She's Moved On" from Lightbulb Sun on a video!!!

Thanks Andy! Got the majority of the Corner Canyon trails like Rush on video now, though there are a few out there that still need to be ridden. A nice snow storm dropped about 6 inches over the Wasatch Front, including my house this past weekend. So getting up there to get the rest in this season looks bleak. However the area will dry out quickly come spring time! Already in withdrawal about winter here so quickly.

Porcupine Tree is my favorite group of all time! I discovered them in mid 2008 after listening to a lot of Opeth, and found that Steven Wilson had worked with Opeth on a project or two. Porcupine Tree was there with me on the ipod when all the climbing started back up in 2008 as well, so the two passions of life merged together perfectly. Not a day doesn't go by that I haven't listened to one or more of their songs. Also, they're from your neck of the woods! I've found that most of the best music groups that cater to my taste are UK and European. Fantastic stuff!

I apologize for not being more active on here over the last few days, that Specialized Hardrock bike of mine has been under the knife getting a nice change out on the components for this winter season. Had it racked here each night getting some new/different components to make it dialed in a bit better! Done a little each night, then loaded it into the work vehicle for a test ride on the parkway trail during lunch, finding what works and what doesn't. Cold though! The temps here during lunch have been a tad over freezing! More to come on the Hardrock build later.

Yea seen PT a couple of times. Steve Wilson is a genius. I first heard them when "In Absentia" came out. Got some of the back catalogue after hearing that. He's a great guitarist and always has good musicians playing. Their drummer on previous albums, Chris Maitland, is awesome.

Hardrock revamp sounds interesting. Looking forward to the pics and info!!

Have you heard PT's new stuff? The Anesthetize album is probably my favorite. You're right, Stephen Wilson is pure genius. One of the best artists I've ever had the opportunity to listen to. Fantastic!

The Hardrock has undergone some changes already, and has more pending. It's destination as a beater bike will surely remain, though more functional from a performance stand point. Parts have been installed and more are in the mail!

I really like Deadwing and Fear of a Blank Planet but not sure about the Incident.

You've really put a lot into the hardrock. Good job WV.

Sure is a slice of heaven while up there! Often I find it's hard to want to descend back down the the truck at the trailhead most of the time. Something about the atmosphere at that altitude during Spring with all the snow and the sun... pretty special.

Funny you mention the music, I've found that songs with a classic overtone suit the high ridges better for some reason. My collection is somewhat limited due to growing up in the dark 80's era of hair metal. Not saying that particular genre of music is bad, per se. There are some videos which might find Floyd on here. In fact the hardest part of compiling the videos, for me at least, is trying to find a music track which would match the best.

Here's a tune you could apply:
On ascent, when you are on the Granny gear, stomping up, apply Pink Floyd's, Money. It's got the ideal rhythm.

Then, for an impending descent, Floyd's "Welcome To The Machine". At 3 minutes the momentum picks up, with sweeping sounds for the speedy curves.
