Winter's Last Gasp?

Well I knew that there was snow on high ground but it had been a glorious spring day the other day. I needed to ride and got more than I bargained for on Jacob's Ladder. The weather was filthy. Gail force winds and driving hail pounded into my face. On the way up, two mountain Rescue ambulances were coming down with a casualty. At the top of the descent I looked down and thought, "If there had been two of us? But not on my own." I didn't fancy waiting on an ambulance!! I was frozen and improvised a balaclava with my windproof then turned round and enjoyed a blowy descent back to Hayfield.

Was this winter's last gasp? I hope so!

Oh, let's hope so. We are having a Spring snow season here at higher ups. 2'-3' at the ski resorts and keeping my high elevation trails buried for another couple weeks :/ Good for the summer water supply but bad for riding.

Same here re: the shorts. The previous 2 weeks saw temps into the mid 60s F, sunshine, mowing my grass.

High up for biking around these parts is 3000'-6500'. Even the trails at around 2000' are under 6"-8" of snow again (head banging a wall smiley inserted here).

Peak District (where I was riding yesterday) is only a max of 2000'. I have ridden Jacob's Ladder many times (as you know!!!) and never encountered these conditions in late March. May get the odd flurry of snow but sticking like this? We generally don't get snows like you do except up north in Scotland. This year has been crazy. Good fun though 'cos it's so rare!!
