Wrocław parks ridesWhen the weather is nice, and nothing is planned for the week-end, then the occasion is perfect to take my son, and sometimes my wife (but rarely, she prefers a good shopping seance !), we mount the bike trailer (or bike sit) and head for the parks of Wrocław.
Polish roads in general, as well as my city, are not a good place to ride with trailers. Too narrow streets, too fast cars, too big traffic. But fortunately our city if full of parks. Four of them (Skowroni, Południowy, Grabiszynek, Kleciński) lie not far from each other and thanks to bike dedicated cycling paths or quiet residential streets , we can link them all and ride almost the whole south side of the city from one side to the other, covering a significant distance (15km). The westernmost part of that ride lies along the nicest portion of the Ślęza river running near the city centre. It is fortunately a green area so far spared by real estate, despite an ever-lasting project of bridge between Grabiszyn and Oporów. It links in a fine way the parks Grabiszynek and Kleciński, and when sun is shining it is undoubtedly the best part.
My son Nicolas is a fan of these excursions, also because each park is featured with children playgrounds, each of them different. Exploring places, running in the grass and then sit comfortably watching landscapes is also an occupation he loves. For me as well, there is no happier moment during the week... Just relaxing and having fun with him ! Recently my wife also enjoys riding alone this route when the Qbikes is set with female settings.
Here is a map showing that route. I hope every Wroclawian finding this page by accident will find it useful.
